This week in Mr. Hernandez’s Math I Class, students continued to learn about the various forms of equations that help us graph lines. We introduced two new forms: Point Slope and Standard Form and we worked throughout the week on some worksheets that helped us understand the two and how they relate. To ensure we all understood the similarities and differences, we split our class into two groups and were given a task to graph out a line based on an equation given. Students would then swap locations to analyze the other group's work to try to understand what they did. After groups noticed that both graphs actually looked the same, we then had each group present their process in creating these lines and how the connection between all forms of equations is present.
Since it is Valentine’s Day later in the week, we plan on working on our graphing skills to create a Valentine’s Day message and image. As we finish up our topic on the 3 forms of equations, we will then look towards solving a system of equations now that we are familiar with how equations can look like.

Senior DP Lang & Lit students are exploring literary criticism such as feminist, New Historical, and psychoanalytical lenses as we read The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood. Students are taking ownership over different lenses as they lead discussions about the dystopian novel. In addition, we are reading Op-Eds from The New York Times and analyzing the authors’ arguments about current events.
