In ESL 2, we have started our Parts of Speech unit! We have learned about Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs, Prepositions, Subject Verb Agreements, Adjectives, and how to properly write simple sentences using sentence starters, and incorporating what we have learned about writing ! This week we will also take our REACH assessments, to track our academic growth throughout the year. In more fun and exciting news recently had a Donorschoose funded which included a plethora of fun and exciting graphic novels which are easier to read and more accessible!

En ESL 2, hemos comenzado nuestra unidad de Partes de Oración. Hemos aprendido sobre Sustantivos, Pronombres, Verbos, Preposiciones, Acuerdos Sujeto-Verbo, Adjetivos, y cómo escribir correctamente oraciones simples usando iniciadores de oraciones, e incorporando lo que hemos aprendido sobre la escritura. Esta semana también tomaremos nuestras evaluaciones REACH, para realizar un seguimiento de nuestro crecimiento académico durante todo el año. ¡En noticias más divertidas y emocionantes que recientemente tenía un Donorschoose financiado que incluía una gran cantidad de diversión y emocionantes novelas gráficas que son más fáciles de leer y más accesible!

This week Mr. Jakusik’s DP History Juniors engaged in a debate arguing whether Benito Mussolini had clear foreign policy aims or was an expert opportunist. The pressure was on when everyone met in the library for the debate, nerves were high. Then insert Mr. Morales and the DP Seniors as an audience. The Juniors pulled through, were well prepared for all of their sections, and did an exceptional job. Moving forward, the Juniors are going to look at the rise of Hitler in authoritarian Germany, Lenin and Stalin in Russia, Mao in China and several other case studies in preparation for their DP exams.

Parents and families, this year, the Clemente IB programmes are undergoing a re-evaluation process, which occurs every five years. As part of the re-evaluation process, various members of the school community practice being reflective and complete a self-study of the IB programmes. As important stakeholders in the Clemente community, we invite you to participate by completing this brief questionnaire that we will factor into the self-study submission. The anonymous survey will help inform how the IB coordinators respond. Please respond to the questionnaire here by 11/1.

Additionally, Sophomores will soon be moving onto the next component of their Personal Project. They will be investigating and researching to start answering their learning goal. Ms. Dryjanski, the MYP Coordinator, will be in US History classes starting on November 1st and continuing through November 8. Be sure to be there!

Padres y familias, este año, los programas del IB de Clemente están pasando por un proceso de reevaluación, que se lleva a cabo cada cinco años. Como parte del proceso de reevaluación, varios miembros de la comunidad escolar practican la reflexión y completan un autoestudio de los programas del IB. Como partes interesadas importantes de la comunidad de Clemente, los invitamos a participar completando este breve cuestionario que incluiremos en el envío del autoestudio. La encuesta anónima ayudará a informar cómo responderán los coordinadores del IB. Respondan el cuestionario aquí antes del 1 de noviembre.

Además, los estudiantes de segundo año pronto pasarán al siguiente componente de su Proyecto Personal. Investigarán e investigarán para comenzar a responder a su objetivo de aprendizaje. La Sra. Dryjanski, la Coordinadora del PAI, estará en clases de Historia de los EE. UU. a partir del 1 de noviembre y hasta el 8 de noviembre. ¡No olvides estar allí!
