Welcome to the counseling department. Roberto Clemente Community Academy High School counseling team welcomes students by offering support for academic success, post-secondary planning, and making connections to outside resources. We provide guidance in conjunction with the post-secondary team (Ms. Brown), to support career exploration, college applications, and navigating personal challenges to help students reach their full potential.

Key services and Support Provided:
  • Academic Counseling: Help with courses, graduation requirements, and credit recovery options
  • Personal social-emotional support: A place to discuss feelings, cope with stress, manage and develop life skills
  • Career and Post-Secondary Planning: In conjunction with the post-secondary team, we assist with guidance on career exploration, college applications, and developing concrete plans for after high school.
How to connect with the counseling team:
  • Appointments: Students can schedule meetings through email.
  • Parents can call the school 773-534-4000 to leave a message as well

Senior Photo Month - Results are in, seniors picked February for Senior Photos. We will begin working on that contract and will let everyone know the date once that is set. This session will also include a photo in cap & gown.
Six Flags Survey - Seniors, please complete the survey by Friday November 14th. We need to get the contract and go through the process of getting it approved, and students attending will need to know the due dates for payment. Payment is $120 to cover the cost of an all-you-can-eat buffet, private event for students and chaperones, rides, and transportation. Please discuss as a family before completing the survey.

Senior Accounts - Please ask the main office for a printout of senior accounts (773-534-4000). You can ask questions there, make arrangements for payment of fees.

FAFSA - Please take advantage of FAFSA workshops. If you are still working on FAFSA or the alternative application and need assistance, please have your parent/guardian reach out to Ms. Brown for assistance. jabrown87@cps.edu

Graduation Date Update - We are still waiting for our 3rd and final contract before we submit the contracts for admin review. Hopefully the administration will be able to publish the dates soon after approval so that families can plan accordingly.

Thanksgiving Break - Thanksgiving Break is 1 week long and begins November 22-November 30. School will resume on Monday December 1st.

Progress reports & semester grades - Progress reports are due Wednesday November 12th. The semester ends December 19th. Seniors, your final Cumulative Unweighted GPA of 3.0+, or a Weighted GPA of 4.0+, will determine if your gown is white for graduation. All others will be Blue.

Senior Prom - For questions about Prom please contact Ms. Guyton at jjguyton1@cps.edu. She will be able to respond to questions about location, date, cost, and where she is in the planning process.

Jostens Cap & Gown Visit - We had the privilege of having Jostens Inc, representatives with us this week to give students a view of class rings, lettermans, and make availability to respond to student questions. If families would still like to browse graduation swag, please visit: https://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1076034/Roberto-Clemente-Community-Academy/

Jostens will return again on Tuesday December 2nd for students questions or orders.
DP/CP:
Last week, the DP senior cohort went on an EMBARC trip to Northern Trust where they networked with professionals, asked questions about various aspects of working at a large financial services company, and toured the 125 year old vault! The adults were extremely impressed by our students’ communication skills and the students were intrigued by the office culture.
Families, please support your student in Personal Project success by asking about the status of their project and encouraging your student to attend tutoring if they need additional help or time to work on the different components.
