Students in Clemente’s 9th grade ESL 1 class are currently learning about possessive nouns and adjectives (his, her, our, etc) and practicing using them in context. Before this, students enjoyed learning how to describe the weather during the four different seasons of the year.

In the 9th grade English learner Communications class, students are preparing their self-introduction projects after completing a unit learning basic conversational phrases priming students to introduce themselves completely in English. If you know a 9th grade English learner, wish them luck in their upcoming presentations!
In the 11th grade Culinary class right now we're in a unit that's all about getting ready for what comes after high school, whether it's college or a career.

For this project, our students are creating their Post-Secondary Portfolios. You can think of this as a professional profile and digital resume all in one. They are using a website called SchoolLinks, which is a great tool for helping them organize their information.

Students are taking the time to carefully build their personal profiles. This means they are adding details about any jobs they've had, volunteer work they've done, or special achievements they've earned. The goal is to make sure their profile is a complete and accurate picture of who they are and what they've accomplished. This is an important step in learning how to present themselves to future employers.

A really cool part of this project is that once their profile is finished, they can use SchoolLinks to instantly export a professionally formatted resume. This will be an incredibly useful tool for them. They'll be able to save it, print it, or upload it to popular job sites like Indeed and LinkedIn when they're ready to look for a job or internship.
It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through the first quarter! We are proud of the ways in which students are approaching their IB education. Last week, the IB team had the opportunity to speak with elementary principals and community partners through an event put on by CAAC. We enjoyed the opportunity to share the great work being done at Clemente through the IB programmes, connect with elementary schools in our neighborhood to strengthen those relationships, and highlight the positive impacts of the IB Continuum (see below) that we can offer for all students, especially IB elementary school students who have the chance to experience the full spectrum of an IB education from PYP to the DP or CP Programmes.
