Clemente Family Update 1/4/2026

In conjunction with the Clemente Student Council and the STLS department, the Clemente community, both in the building and beyond, collected and packed more than 60 bags as part of our holiday food drive! Thank you to all who participated to ensure that all our families are secure over winter break. We would also like to specifically thank both the office of Alderman La Spata and Alderperson Fuentes for their generous support.

Greetings and happy holidays from your 9th grade Spanish teacher! 9th grade Spanish 1 students this week have been participating in an activity called Navidad Madness, which involves watching commercials from Spanish speaking countries entirely in the language! Afterwards, students do comprehension activities and compare and contrast holiday commercials from the Spanish speaking world and the US. Meanwhile, 9th grade Heritage Spanish 1 students have been following the story of Eric Dalares in the series Tierra Incógnita, which explores some answers to one of our essential questions from this last unit, ¿Quiénes somos en relación con los demás? Who are we in relation to other people?

Make your plans! A schedule will come out after winter break, photo sessions are usually scheduled through your English Class. Caps & Gowns will be provided by the photographer for your photography session. They will take photographs and then reach out to you if you want to purchase your photo or if you want to do other photo packages. Clemente does not take money or orders, this will all go through Life Touch photography. NOTE: If you are not present on this day, there is no make-up day. You will need to contact a photographer of your choice and arrange a senior photo session with them.

For all sophomores, please be sure to take advantage of the two weeks off to work on your Personal Project final products! This is a prime time to work on whatever you are making to show your learning, whether it’s a video, a posterboard or something totally different! Final products are due on January 23rd to be ready for the Personal Project Fair, which will be February 13th! For both students and families, please feel free to reach out with any last-minute questions at gdryjanski@cps.edu!

DP & CP: We hope you have a restful break and return refreshed and ready for Semester 2! Seniors, if you have not completed your DP Bio II IA, you should work on it over break to stay on track. Ms. Coffey will meet with seniors regarding exam registration when we return. Stay warm!
