Clemente Family Update 9/29/2021

The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, which is why I am reaching out to you about several incidents that occurred at school yesterday. On Tuesday, September 28, we had several physical altercations between students and adults inside our school building. Clemente staff immediately intervened to ensure the safety of all members of our community. We notified the CPS Office of Safety and Security and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) about the incidents, and CPD arrived quickly to provide additional safety supports to our community. We are handling these incidents in accordance with CPS policy, and the parents of all impacted students have been contacted.

Many students may have witnessed these altercations, and we want to emphasize that these incidents do not meet the expectations of the positive culture and climate that we have built at Clemente. Our entire school team is looking forward to working with all of you to ensure that our school community is the safe and supportive environment that our students deserve.
