In our US History classes, we just wrapped up our unit on Colonialism in the Americas, and now we’re moving to our Constitution unit. We’re beginning by covering civil liberties, the limits on how the government can treat its citizens, by analyzing real court cases that deal with citizen-police interactions. The students usually find this really engaging, and we’ve had some excellent debates in class so far! Students have a lot of prior knowledge on civil liberties based on what they’ve seen in movies or on TV, but with that knowledge comes misconceptions that we’re trying to tease out. We hope this unit provides students with a base of knowledge about their rights as US citizens that they can use for the rest of their lives!

As financial aid deadlines approach for colleges and universities, we want to encourage Clemente students to complete their FAFSA as soon as possible. Students and families should log on to the FAFSA at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.

You will need the following information to complete your FAFSA:
|
- The student’s social security number
- The parent’s social security number, if they have one
- Your 2020 taxes, if you file them (Parent and Student)
- Your W-2 forms, if you work and do not file taxes (Parent and Student)
- An estimate of the amount of money you have in the bank or in investments (Parent and Student)
The counselors and Mr. Crawley are available to help with any questions you have about FAFSA or financial aid, so please feel free to set up an appointment if you have any questions or need one-on-one help.
