Welcome back! With just a few weeks left until the end of semester and the missing school days last week, there is some big news on the Personal Project front.
|
Due dates have been adjusted to make sure you all are successful in finishing your project and aren't impacted by those missing days.
|
|
Check out the new due dates below, as well as some other key updates...
|
|
|
- Finish on your product! Your item that you are making, whatever it is, is due in three weeks on January 31st!
- The Personal Project Fair will now be on February 9th!
- Need materials but not sure where to get them? Please send me an email at gdryjanski@cps.edu OR connect with your mentor for help.
- Catch up on missing items! Check the Sophomore Google Classroom to see what you have turned in and what you are missing!
- Be sure to look at your process journals! You should be finished all the way through Journal #6 by January 20th.
- Meet with your mentor as soon as you can. Remember, these three meetings are required and should help you figure out any questions you have.
- Feel free to come to Personal Project tutoring on Tuesday and Thursday this week and the coming weeks. I will be there to answer questions and support as needed. There will be computers available to use as well.

In (Ms.Azim’s) Sophomore Chemistry, we just finished reviewing and completing a summative assessment regarding the atomic structure! The atom is composed of 3 subatomic particles: the proton, neutron, and electron! Students were able to identify the particles, their charges, relative sizes, determine atom stability, and explore how these related back to the information obtained from the periodic table. Students have done a great job working within their groups and surprised me with how fast they picked up on the concepts! This week and next week we will be working on a summative about the Michigan Flint Water Crisis, where we explore chemical pollutant’s impact on the community. Excited for students to explore this social issue and at the same time learn some chemistry!

Our semester is quickly coming to an end. Teachers must report grades by January 28th. However, you can expect your student's teachers to have final due dates before this date. This allows teachers the time to accurately report grades.
|
|
For freshmen, sophomore, fine arts, and JROTC students, parents/guardians: Once again, here are the credentials to log into JumpRope.
|
|
Username: Student email address

There has been an update in JumpRope that will become live in the next week. Our missing code will shift from E to M. This ensures there is less confusion! Additionally, the missing code will be given a weight of 1. This provides a more accurate communication of a letter grade.
|
Lastly, a conversion chart has been entered at the top of the Current Grades tab. Now, when you see a number next to your student's class, you can have an idea of what letter grade the number corresponds to.
|
If you notice that there is no grade next to a class or if you are confused in any way about the number or letter, please email the teacher directly (by clicking on the blue envelope next to the course's name on the Current Grades tab) or reaching out to mmybarra@cps.edu.

Please note that as students progress in the curriculum, their letter grades can dramatically shift after they show progress in the different competencies.
|
