My Experience From Pride Day

On Friday, February 26th, our freshman teachers decided to do a virtual “pride day” for us. They set up 11 different virtual rooms where we could all go to and have FUN!! Some of the rooms included things like, the gaming room, anime room, vibe room, DJ room, and movie room.

I spent most of my time in the gaming room, where a ton of freshman students got together to play video games like Call of Duty, Fortnite, NBA 2K, Smash Brothers and many others. What made this room so much fun was that I got to meet many of my freshman classmates that had the same interests that I do. I also spent time in the DJ room, vibe room, and anime room, where students got to meet one another and chat, joke around, and got to know each other. I made several new friends that I never met before. It was an awesome day to be a Clemente student.

I never realized that school could have just fun days. We really needed this because remote learning can be stressful with all the work our teachers require us to do. We also needed this type of day because with remote learning it makes it hard to meet new friends when most of the class time is spent doing work. I really want to thank all of our teachers for doing this for us. I really hope they let us do another “pride day” in the future.

Hello sophomore families!
Check out below for an update about what’s happening in Spanish and Dance classes right now:
Buenos días,
In Spanish classes this month, students are learning about balance. We are learning ways to describe how and why we spend our time. We will be moving into talking about common student issues with the goal of being able to give advice. We will also be working on self-reflection on what works for us and how we can make meaningful habits and be intentional about reducing stress and finding balance.
Cuidense,
Sra De Leon

Our new dance class is welcoming artists from Ensemble Espanol and Northeastern Illinois University. Dancers Nalanie Molina and Luis Beltran will be teaching a Flamenco Arts and Culture workshop on Mondays during second semester. We are excited to be starting this partnership next week! - Mrs. Potter

Hi Juniors,

We are just six short weeks away from the SAT! While this date is looming, there is still plenty of time to prepare independently and with support from your teachers. Here are some key pieces of information that we presented in the Town Hall and are included below.

Moreover, if you are interested in seeing how you did on the PSAT in January, please check out your Collegeboard account to see your scores. If you need some help accessing them or support in understanding what they mean, please feel free to reach out to your junior counselors. Click on their emails below to send them a message!
In the meantime, even with the stress of the SAT, please take care of yourselves and reach out to teachers, staff and culture and climate for anything you may need. You all have continued to persevere through remote learning and the junior team applauds you!

We are coming up to progress reports on March 12! Make sure you are keeping up with your grades, checking in with your teachers and asking questions for further clarification!

Hey there, Wildcats! I am proud to announce that Wednesday, March 3, we hosted our first boys swim meet in over 20 years! Clemente took on Lakeview High School -- Wildcat versus Wildcat!

Allow me to introduce to you to RCCA’s Boys Swim Team:
  1. Ramiro Hernández (Captain: 200 Free, 500 Free, 200 IM, 100 Breast)
  2. James Solis (Captain: 200 IM, 200 Free, 100 Fly)
  3. Isaiah Santos (50 Free, 100 Free)
  4. Rodrigo Rodriguez (100 Back, 200 Free)
  5. Zion Clinton ( 100 Back, 100 Free)
  6. Denzel Dotson (50 Free)
In our first home meet, you, our community, Wildcat Alumni, Wildcat staff, Humboldt Park Health, B96, and colleagues at Shabbona and Eckhart Park, helped make this happen.
The donations we received went towards making sure our boys had competitive swimwear -- Jammers, swim caps, and goggles -- and towards making sure our boys were provided with Gatorade, water bottles, face masks, personal hand sanitizers, Chapstick, and a meet card and bag tag.

The competition was intense and showcased our athletes’ sportsmanship, integrity, and character. Even though we lost the meet 48-50, it was still a victory to celebrate and be proud of! Our team is extremely grateful for how everyone pitched in and looked out for us.

Please join us remotely on Wednesday, March 10 at 5PM for our second home meet against Schurz HS on Facebook live. A Google Meet link will be made available and accessible as well.

Cheer your Wildcats on!
