Famility Update

Clemente Family Update 3/21/2021

Team 10
Hello sophomores,

We are only one week away from Spring Break and the end of the quarter follows pretty closely behind. Take this week as an opportunity to communicate with your teachers and make sure you’re in good standing. Here is a suggested outline for an email you could send:

Hello ___________,

I’m reaching out about my grade which is a ____%. Are there any assignments in particular that I could make up or revise to raise my grade and understanding? I appreciate you letting me know.
Thanks,
___________

In other news, check out what students in Ms. Spillane’s class are up to!

This week in Geometry, we have been exploring angles IRL… IN REAL LIFE. We are taking pictures of angles we see all around us. Are they acute, right, obtuse, or straight angles? We have been discussing how angles are used in occupations. Engineers, architects, and construction workers use angles for design, roads, and buildings. Carpenters use angles to make furniture. Athletes use angles to enhance their performance. Artists use angles to sketch portraits and paintings.

Hi juniors,
Quarter grades are coming out soon. One way to avoid the stress and panic at the end of the quarter is to recover your grade now! We have shared this in the newsletter before but it never hurts to reach out to teachers ahead of time. This will make it easier for you to tackle missing assignments and for your teacher to get them graded in a timely manner. Copy this template below (it may look familiar) as a way to structure your emails to your teachers.

Subject: Improving my grade

Hi Mr./Ms. _____________________ , (add your teacher’s name)

Before the semester ends, I wanted to reach out about my grade, which is currently _____% (insert your grade here) and see if there was anything I can do to improve it. I looked in Aspen and saw that I am missing ________________________ (fill this part in with whatever assignments you are missing!). Can I make this assignment up or is it better to focus on a different assignment?

Please let me know what I can do. I appreciate it!

Thanks,
_______________ (your name)

This also means that the SAT is just four short weeks away. While this date is looming, there is still plenty of time to prepare independently and with support from your teachers. Here are some key pieces of information that we presented in the Town Hall and are included below.

Additionally, you are always welcome to attend weekly SAT tutoring with junior teachers and staff. Next week will focus on evidence-based reading and writing, which is a great area to work on before the exam.

We hope everyone enjoyed the school-wide Pride Day! Staff enjoyed spending the day with each of you.

We are about half way through the quarter. This is a great time to reach out to teachers and counselors for support! Need support? Send them an email!

Students should check their email to ensure they submitted their size and FINAL VOTE for the senior shirts.
