Educating global citizens for a changing world

NEWSFLASH

Clemente Family Update 3/15/2020

Good Evening Clemente Families

Welcome to the Y2K of our time. Thank you for remaining calm during this really unusual time in our history.  With time, patience, and each other, we will weather this storm.

We have received many questions about a variety of topics: expectations for Monday, what eLearning looks like, and the use of cellular communication between staff and students. I hope that the following will provide clarity. We, of course, will continue to communicate with you as new information becomes available over the next few days and weeks as we navigate our way through COVID-19

Over the past few days, your teachers have been working diligently, developing lessons for their students to work on during this time away from school. While you won’t physically be at Clemente, we want to make sure your learning continues. Each grade level will provide links and hard copies for all students to be able to complete at home. For students who have access from home, in the next few days, teachers will also be setting up “Online Office Hours” to support your questions and concerns.

This weekend we performed a deep clean of the school:
  • Sanitized all touchpoints, including but not limited to door handles, light switches, elevator buttons, banisters, dispensers and railings
  • Ensured all dispensers are clean, disinfected, and full of soap, toilet paper, paper towels. Hung new or replaced any CDC Handwashing posters that have been damaged
  • Cleaned all stairwells, paying attention to banisters/railings and washing all walls (this is an area where people tend to touch the walls a lot)
  • Wiped walls in corridors.
  • Wiped down all glass (windows, doors, etc.).
  • And lastly, we sanitized all desks/chairs, ensured floors are fully cleaned, etc.
We do have a limited opportunity for students needing laptops or smartphones during this time. For students who need smartphones or laptops please see below for more information.

For many of us, we know how to buckle down when things get tough and know how to weather a storm. We will be fine so long we take the proper precautions and take care of ourselves. This means if you are sick, at all, stay home. If you have a cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, or fever, stay home and seek proper medical attention.

During this fluid time of uncertainty, I have also set-up a remote office line for you to contact me in case of an emergency. The number is 708.320.9540 otherwise please feel free to reach out by email: fsmojica@cps.edu.
