Hello sophomores and sophomore families!

We hope you’re enjoying the warmer weather and working on staying motivated to end the year strong! Progress reports come out next week and Quarter 4 grades are due June 18th, so keep your eye on the prize and earn those A’s and B’s.
Speaking of classes, check out what’s going on in math and PE classes right now:

In Sophomore Math, we are working on similarity of shapes. In this unit, students are using what they learned about proportions in elementary schools and applying it to problems that involve Algebra. We use a launchpad to keep assignments organized and include video lessons for students to work at their own paces. I use a blended approach in my classroom pulling students into small groups for instruction as well.

  • Mrs. Delgado
For the remainder of the year Sophomore students will be learning about the following:
International Baccalaureate: The Sophomore class will be investigating the Unit 5 Statement of Inquiry: Communication influences personal and social development.

The Art of Dance: Students will be developing their knowledge of dance through experiences like, practice dance sessions and tutorials, dance discussions connected to wellness and culture, as well as the many physical/mental health benefits gained through dance.

-Mr. Tolene

Wrestling News: The Clemente Varsity Wrestling team had it's second match May 19th against Sullivan. The Clemente team wrestled tough with victories from Junior Jerry Green, Senior Dennis Larios, and freshman Devin Castillo.

It's been wonderful having so many of our young people back in the building these past two weeks. Thanks to their maturity, enthusiasm, and cooperation, re-entry has gone very smoothly.

On the days that your student is in the building, we ask that you remind them that, while phones are allowed during in-person learning this quarter, they should not be using FaceTime as a means of communicating while in school. This becomes a privacy violation for others who may appear in the call.

Thank you for your continued support of learning at Clemente!

Hi juniors! We hope you enjoyed the Town Hall and Awards Ceremony this week. It was a great chance to recognize a lot of you for your hard work this year, along with your sparkling personalities and unique talents. There was a lot of information presented in the Town Hall itself, such as links to job opportunities and summer programs, along with info about the SAT for your senior year (if needed) and credit recovery. If you need to review the information or access any of the links shared, please check out this abridged version of the Town Hall presentation. If you have any questions about what is included, feel free to email Ms. Dryjanski at gdryjanski@cps.edu.

Additionally, we are sure you are aware that progress reports went out this week. This marks the halfway point in Quarter 4, which also means there are just 22 school days remaining in your junior year! As someone put it in the Town Hall, #seniorszn is happening for you all! Before that point, however, we encourage you to reach out to teachers about improving and maintaining strong grades. An excellent way to do this is every Wednesday during asynchronous time. Email your teachers to set up a time to meet, work on missing work or revise assignments based on their feedback. Confused about when asynchronous time is? Check out the schedule below.

Finally, if you have not filled this out in your science class, there is an upcoming state science assessment happening on June 1 and 2. In order to plan for the test, we need to know how many students are planning to attend to take the exam. Please fill out this form in order to let us know if you plan to attend depending on your level of comfort being in the building. You may have done this in class already--there is no need to fill it out again!

Student Check-in
Hello! This is a quick check-in to see how school is going and making sure you are getting the resources and the reach out you need. This survey is created by a fellow student and will be used in the LSC meetings. There will be a survey sent out once every month. Thanks!
