9th grade has been focusing on different types of equations, graphing and exploring how it all works when applied to real life situations and new ways to solve problems. There has been a focus on solving problems in many different ways instead of the teacher telling students how to memorize steps and then regurgitating it back on a test. This exploration into problem solving will take our students much further in school and beyond.

The world of mathematics has sophomores in Integrated Math 2 exploring solution sets of linear equations and inequalities. They are finding different means to investigate them and solidify their definitions on where they should shade their solution set and also if their line is even a solution! (OOOOOO)

They are working with the Standard Form of linear functions as well as the go-to Slope-Intercept Form to analyze real world scenarios that encompass their particular situations.

AP Human Geography this year is all about acknowledging and appreciating the everyday geographic skills and concepts that we experience on a daily basis. From GPS technology to ancient travel journals to using map scales to interpreting relationship graphs, AP Human Geo helps us to be aware of the skills that have helped civilization to become as advanced as it has.

Students are learning this by investigating key technologies, such as Google Maps and Space X’s Starlink satellites, to make observations about key 21st Century issues, such as income, energy consumption, and demographics.

Hello everyone! This week Seniors are working on exploring City Colleges and completing their first college application. This is also their first college acceptance letter! Seniors are also completing their Academic Works Profile on Naviance. We have also begun to complete the FSA I.D. (which takes 5 minutes to complete). Students need to come to school with their government I.D. or social security number written down or memorized. (Not a photo on the phone). They will be using these for college applications, FSA. I.D. and the FAFSA. If a student does not have an I.D. please contact mlcrawley@cps.edu to discuss.

Esta semana, los estudiantes del último año están explorando City Colleges y completando su primera solicitud universitaria. ¡Esta es también su primera carta de aceptación universitaria! This week in steel drums, students have been working on learning two short songs for the homecoming pep rally, 1. Move it! 2. Low Rider. They have also begun to learn how to read traditional music notation on their instruments and are beginning the first part of their final exam this week to write their first piece of music on Http://www.noteflight.com. This is a free program that allows anyone to write up to 10 pieces of music for various instruments.

Esta semana en tambores de acero, los estudiantes han estado trabajando en el aprendizaje de dos canciones cortas para el mitin de bienvenida, 1. ¡Muévete! 2. Jinete bajo. También han comenzado a aprender a leer la notación musical tradicional en sus instrumentos y están comenzando las primeras partes de su examen final musical esta semana para escribir su primera pieza musical en Http://www.noteflight.com. This week, sophomores are beginning their Personal Project journey! They started off by filling out their initial interest form in English classes, which allows them to start brainstorming ideas and selecting their top choices for mentors. Sophomores, if you did not complete the interest form in English this week, please make sure to complete the form before October 10th!
|
Personal Project mentors will be announced via email in the next few weeks so keep an eye on your email to see who you will be working with throughout the year. Families, please check out the following graphic to be aware of what the year will look like in the Personal Project or explore the Personal Project Calendar to be aware of coming due dates!

Comenzaron llenando su formulario de interés inicial en las clases de inglés, lo que les permite comenzar a generar ideas y seleccionar sus mejores opciones para mentores.
