Clemente Family Update 3/14/2022

|
English III classes just finished reading the Classical Greek play Medea by Euripides. Students debated topics of betrayal, justice, and love in the text, and we wrote thematic analysis essays exploring the universal themes that are still relevant to modern audiences. We also watched a modern adaptation of the play, Mojada, which was written by playwright Luis Alfaro. We analyzed the way in which Alfaro took an ancient text and retold it to focus on experiences of immigrant families in the 21st century United States.

We have been specifically focusing on the skills of organizing our thoughts (both on paper and in discussion) and supporting arguments with properly cited textual evidence.
|
Next up: We will be brushing up on our SAT test taking strategies before starting The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. :)

Happy week everyone! We have great news that was recently announced. The following dates will be added to our school calendar: Please keep in mind, seniors need to do the following:
|
- Turn in a signed senior contract before the events (This is already due) See Busch for extra copies.
- Maintain 85% attendance starting Feb 28th.
- Maintain C’s or Higher in all Courses 5 days before the event.
- No more than 1 level 1-2 infractions. Zero level 4-6 infractions.
- All remediation or restorative options must be completed 5 days before any event. (tutoring etc)

SENIOR PICTURES March 24-25

Information: All picture packages are purchased through Potter Studio. No money will be handled by Clemente. The schedule is posted by Senior classes on rccachicago.org (scroll down). Students who do not see their class, can take pictures during lunch (This should only be a handful of students) Please remember to bring gym shoes to walk the halls (heels should not be worn except at the time of the pictures), and no flat irons or curling irons in the building. (Safety) Also see: Http://www.potterstudio.com/rcca22 to pay for packages. Note: When they ask you to reserve a picture time, just pick anything, we are going by our own schedule posted on our website. Potter Studio knows when the classes are coming down. Students will not be able to bring in cell phones in Clemente hallways on this day.

Schedule: Leave Clemente at 9:30pm and return at about 5:00am.

Paperwork has been submitted for approval. We will update as soon as we are able about tickets and specifics.

While logging in, you’ll notice that the gradebook ROLLS with the semester. There is no distinction between 1 and 2. This is because the course is being treated as a year long experience.

Feel free to ask your student’s teachers what skills your student needs to improve in Semester 2. This can potentially raise their grade or move them out of the Not Yet (/) category! You can reach out to your student’s teachers by clicking the blue envelope in the Current Grades section in JumpRope.
