Famility-Update

Clemente Family Update 3/28/2022

Team 9
In Sophomore English we have recently completed our unit focused on the Shakespeare play “Othello”. Students were able to view two cinema versions of the play. One version was presented from the play’s original text and the other was a modern adaptation called “O”. In addition students were given the opportunity to recreate scenes from the original play into their own modern version. Students were tasked with a role to become a director, actor, music, costume, or set designer for their scenes. Many of our students chose to act out their scenes as part of their presentations and did an outstanding job in their roles as actors and/or presenters.

We as a course team are extremely proud of our students to see them challenge themselves by stepping out of their comfort zones and to have fun while presenting their collaborative work. Looking forward to see what our students will do next in our upcoming unit focused on innovative artists in the music industry. - Mr. Johnson

Dear Senior Parents, Guardians, Families and Friends, thank you for all you are doing to assist students toward their end-goal of graduating! It is always busy this time of year with a lot to do! Keep pushing! Just a few updates today, we will provide more information in the next couple weeks.

The Student Contract: Please make sure students turn in their Senior Contract. To attend events, they must maintain Cs or higher, have 85% attendance, and only 1 low level infraction. If students are using any of the 5 CPS mental health days, please communicate this with Jiporrata@cps.edu to excuse the student for their absence. The attendance will be calculated from February 28th, the day of the senior town hall meeting. You can request all attendance information by reaching out to Ms. Porrata. Just to make sure you’re aware, if a student misses 1 class, that is a half day absence. In 10 days of class, a student can only miss 1 day of school if they want to maintain 85% attendance.

May 20th - Seniors need to have all graduation requirements met to graduate on June 6th. This includes, SAT, Driver’s Ed, Constitution Test (Law Test), All Courses needed for graduation according to CPS, 2 Service Learning Projects, Learn-Plan-Succeed through Naviance, 3 College Aps, FAFSA, and Scholarship applications. Please reach out to their counselors if you have questions. RForeman1@cps.edu or JTSmith5@cps.edu or call Mr. Crawley at 1-773-544-7400 for questions about the FAFSA.

May 28th - Prom at Embassy Suites (511 N Columbus Drive). We will be providing more directions soon as far as ticket price, and purchasing information. Be aware that students attending the event will need to pay for valet parking when they arrive, so please factor that in if you’re driving to the venue. Check-in will begin at 6:30pm, Catered Dinner at 7:30pm. Yes, students will be able to invite non-Clemente guests to the event, under age 21. We will provide forms soon for students who need them. (All non-Clemente Guests have to complete the form to attend). After Spring Break, we will also be raffling off a few free tickets, so keep a lookout for that as well. Students who are a part of the Wildcat Club with Mr. Morales and meet the terms of their agreement, will be provided a free ticket for themselves. We do not have an update yet on senior fees. When I know, you will know. Reach out to Mr. Morales with any questions.

June 3rd - Six Flags Senior Night. Tickets will be on sale soon, look out for info on that. It will be first come first serve, tickets will be limited.

Graduation June 6, 2022. New Life Church on 3400 W. Division Street. Doors open for students at 4pm. Doors open for guests at 5pm. Ceremony begins at 6pm. Parking is available. More information will follow in the coming weeks.

Other Events We do have other events happening, they are being planned after Spring Break. Students have been asking about the Senior Luncheon and Senior Picnic, these events are on our radar and will be planned likely as a Final Senior Week Schedule. That will be released in the coming months as a part of a larger staff-developed schedule of events that final week. Have a great week!
