In IB Math we explored the deep connection between mathematics and art, more importantly we put our heads together and unpacked this Statement of Inquiry: Understanding Form and Shape Enhances Creativity. Learning a variety of mathematical functions (linear, square root, quadratic, and more) along with the different transformations that could be performed on each function allowed us to create various patterns and designs. We put these patterns and designs together in the first ever Clemente Coloring Book, check out some of the designs below. Our next topic of discussion is Functions and Inverse Functions. To give the public an idea of this concept, consider the following puzzle:

The idea here is that you can invert the process and deduce the number your friend started with. Try it the next time you are at a party, it’s sure to be a hit! The juniors will continue their study of math and its connections to the real world. Shout out to our amazing co-teachers Mr. Sible, Ms. O’Brien, and Ms. Spillane.

Quarter 4, the final stretch, is now in full swing! For 3rd Quarter Report Cards, all teachers added a current progress grade into ASPEN. You will find these grades listed on their report cards. Quarter 3 grades are not written in stone, and there is still a full quarter for students to see improvements!
