Student Logo contest

We need YOU to create the 2022 Googlepalooza Logo.

Announcing the second Googlepalooza Logo Competition hosted by the CPS Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Digital Learning and Information Technology Services! We’re excited to see the amazing logos that Chicago Public School students will create.
What is Googlepalooza?

Googlepalooza will be August 8 - 12, 2022 and is an event that over 10,000 teachers, staff and school leaders attend every year. It is a week-long, virtual professional development conference featuring CPS teachers and administrators, Googlers, and vendor-led training sessions.

Googlepalooza logo contest rules
The theme for this logo competition is, “Learning. Leading. Together”. Students must incorporate this theme into their Googlepalooza logo. The word Googlepalooza must be in the logo in order to be considered. Only enrolled students at a Chicago Public School can submit and students must be in grades 3-12.

GOOGLEPALOOZA LOGO CONTEST PRIZES
The winning logo will be featured on the Googlepalooza website and all Googlepalooza marketing materials.

The winning student will receive a prize from Google!
The Winner will be announced June 8, 2022.

How to Enter your Googlepalooza Logo contest
Students must submit the Googlepalooza Entry Form. Click HERE to fill out the form. Students must create their logo on a 8.5 x 11 piece of white paper. Students must be CPS students in grades 3-12. The word “Googlepalooza” must be included in the design. (A template has been created for you.) If you have any questions please contact Joy Blake at jablake@cps.edu.

The SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS May 25th.

You also can create your logo on your own sheet of white paper.

Make sure to scan or take a picture of your logo and submit it on the entry form!!

English II is wrapping up their music research projects and moving on to their final unit of the year, Horror! We'll be reading some short stories and listening to some spooky podcasts.

Also Half Cap will next month on June 7th! This is a fun celebration of the sophomore class for completing half of high school. To be ebigle, students must be passing their classes or signed up for credit recovery, have no outstanding behavior issues, and have completed the Personal Project report. We would to have as many sophomores participate as possible, so please encourage your students to push through the last few of the semester.

Quarter 4, the final stretch, is now in full swing! For 3rd Quarter Report Cards, all teachers added a current progress grade into ASPEN. You will find these grades listed on their report cards. Quarter 3 grades are not written in stone, and there is still a full quarter for students to see improvements!

Performing Arts Showcase

On May 26th, the Fine Arts Department will be hosting a Performing Arts Showcase featuring the work of some of our drama students. Our dance students will be our technical crew, lighting crew, sound crew, and ushers. If your student is participating in Ms. Sinsheimer’s DP Drama or Mrs. Potter’s Dance classes, they are bringing home information along with two forms that need parent signatures.

Students must have their forms signed and arrive at school on time on May 25th for rehearsal and May 26th for the performances in order to participate. Students who are absent or tardy on either day will not be able to participate in the performance. Students who do not participate will be given an alternative assignment.

If you are interested in volunteering for the performance or coming to see the students perform, please contact Ms. Sinsheimer (ssinsheimer@cps.edu) or Mrs. Potter (jtpotter@gmail.com) and complete the Parent Attendance form or the Volunteer Interest form!

Make sure to complete the CPS Level 1 Volunteer background check for Level 1 volunteers.

Muestra de artes escénicas

El 26 de mayo, el Departamento de Bellas Artes presentará una exhibición de artes escénicas que presentará el trabajo de algunos de nuestros estudiantes de teatro. Nuestros alumnos de danza serán nuestro equipo técnico, equipo de luces, equipo de sonido y acomodadores. Si su estudiante está participando en las clases de Drama DP de la Sra. Sinsheimer o de Danza de la Sra. Potter, llevarán información a casa junto con dos formularios que necesitan las firmas de los padres.

Los estudiantes deben tener sus formularios firmados y llegar a la escuela a tiempo el 25 de mayo para el ensayo y el 26 de mayo para las presentaciones para poder participar. Los estudiantes que estén ausentes o lleguen tarde en cualquiera de los días no podrán participar en la presentación. A los estudiantes que no participen se les asignará una tarea alternativa.

Parent Leaders from Yates & Stowe Elementary visited Clemente’s Parent University last week. Besides learning about the resources available to parents at Clemente, they also enjoyed a presentation by OSHW (Office of Student Health & Wellness) who will soon be joining Parent University. See pictures below.

Padres líderes de las Escuelas Elementales Yates y Stowe visitaron la Universidad de Padres la semana pasada. Además de aprender sobre recursos disponibles en Clemente, también disfrutaron de una presentación de la Oficina de Bienestar y Salud del Estudiante (OSHW) quien pronto se unirá a nuestra Universidad de Padres. Parents & Community Members are getting ready to go on a Field Trip to Truman College NEXT Week, on Monday, May 16th 9am-12:30. In addition to getting a tour and building a sense of how accessible this is, they will also get their official Truman College student ids because they have been taking their English classes from Truman at Clemente! (Lunch will also be provided)

If you or someone you know is interested in joining the next English Challenge, the next English class will start on Monday, May 23rd. Classes will meet twice a week, Mondays & Wednesdays 9-1pm for 3 months. Interested people can join the Field Trip to Truman College. And if they pre-register before the Field Trip, they can register once at Truman and can get their Truman College student id before classes start!! Seccion Comité Asesor Bilingue de Padres

La próxima semana, los padres y miembros de la comunidad van de Paseo a visitar el Colegio Truman, el lunes 16 de mayo 9am - 12:30. Además de tener una excursión por todo el Colegio y ver que, Si Se Puede, también tendrán la oportunidad de recibir su tarjeta de identificación oficial como estudiante del Colegio Truman por haber tomado sus clases de inglés en Clemente! (Se proveerá almuerzo)

Por si usted o alguien que usted conoce está interesad@ en participar en las próximas clases de inglés, estas comenzarán el lunes, 23 de mayo. Serán dos veces a la semana, los lunes y los miércoles de 9-1pm por 3 meses. Las personas interesadas también pueden unirse al paseo para visitar el Colegio Truman. Si se registran antes del paseo, también podrán obtener su tarjeta de identificación como estudiante del Colegio antes de que empiecen las clases!
