REQUEST TO OPT-OUT OF ERIN’S LAW PRESENTATION
|

On January 24, 2013, Gov. Pat Quinn signed a new law, Erin’s Law, into effect for all Illinois schools. Erin’s Law requires schools to provide age-appropriate sexual abuse prevention education for all students, Pre-K - 12, on an annual basis. In accordance with the state and federal law, all students in Pre-K through 12th grade will receive age-appropriate training from the District. The Office of Student Protections and Title IX has collaborated across a number of departments to create developmentally appropriate sessions that will allow students to identify abuse and empower them to report any wrong doing that may have occurred. The sessions have been broken down by grade, and are all around 30-45 minutes. The training will take place in the auditorium on Thursday, May 19, 2022 for 9th and 11th graders and Friday, May 20th for 10th and 11th graders.

The Office of Student Protections and Title IX Student Training covers the following five learning objectives using developmentally appropriate language:

- Students will understand CPS Title IX Policy and Discrimination Statement
- Students will know who the Title IX Coordinator is, what OSP does,and how to get in touch with OSP
- Students will understand what constitutes sexual harassment and bias-based harm
- Students will be aware of the resources available to students who report sexual harassment, retaliation, or bias-based harm, including supportive measures pending an investigation
- Students will know what to do if they believe they or other students have been subjected to sexual harassment and bias-based harm
This is an important learning opportunity for students.However, a parent or guardian may opt their child out of the training if they do not wish for them to participate. The opt-out form will be good for the current school year:

Solicitud de Exclusión Voluntaria de la Presentación de La Ley de Erin

En Enero, 24.2013, el Gob. Pat Quinn aprobó una nueva ley, Ley de Erin, y tomó efecto para todas las escuelas de Illinois. La Ley de Erin requiere que escuelas proporcionen educacion para prevenir el abuso sexual que sea apropiada de edad para los estudiantes Pre-K a 12 cada año. En acuerdo con la ley estatal y federal, todos los estudiantes en Pre-K a grado 12 tiene que recibir este entrenamiento de edad apropiada del distrito escolar. La Oficina de Protección Estudiantil y Título IX (OSP) ha colaborado con varios departamentos para crear sesiones apropiados para diferente edades que dan la oportunidad que estudiantes identifiquen abuso y los apodera poder reportar cualquier forma de mal que haya ocurrido.

Las sesiones han estado agrupadas por grado y todos duran 30-45 minutos. El entrenamiento se llevara acabo el Jueves 19 de mayo de 2022 en el auditorio de la escuela para los grados 9 y 11 y Viernes 20 de Mayo para los grados 10 y 11.

La Oficina de Protección Estudiantil y Título IX (OSP) Entrenamiento Estudiantil cubre estos cinco objetivos de aprendizaje con lenguaje de edad apropiada:

- Estudiantes entenderán la Declaración de No Discriminación de CPS
- Estudiantes sabrán quien es su Coordinadora de Título IX, que hace la Oficina de Protección Estudiantil y Título IX (OSP), y cómo ponerse en contacto con OSP
- Estudiantes entenderan que constitute acoso sexual y daño basado en prejuicios
- Estudiantes sabran que recursos estan disponible a estudiantes que reportan acoso sexual y retaliacion, o daño basado en prejuicios incluyendo medidas de apoyo pendiente de una investigación
- Estudiantes sabran que hacer si creen que ellos o otros estudiantes han sido sujeto de acoso sexual y daño basado en prejuicios.
Esta es una oportunidad importante. Sin embargo, un padre/madre/guardián puede escoger voluntariamente excluir su hijo/a/x del entrenamiento si no desean que participen. Esta solicitud de Exclusión Voluntaria será válida para este año escolar.
