Clemente Family Update 10/17/2023

Dear Families,

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the smooth operation of our 1:1 Chromebook program, we kindly request your assistance in verifying the status of your student's assigned Chromebook.

In the coming days, you will receive an email containing a link to a brief verification form. We ask that you and your student complete this form as soon as possible. It's a quick and simple process, and your prompt response is crucial.

Failure to complete the verification form may result in the temporary locking of the Chromebook assigned to your student. This measure is taken to ensure the asset's proper tracking and security.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated, as it allows us to maintain accurate records and provide continued support for your student's educational needs.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance as we work together to optimize our technology resources for the benefit of all students.

Thank you
RCCA

This week in World Studies, students will be introduced to the topics of European imperialism and their colonialism in Africa. Students will be exploring the national, economic, social, and religious motivations that drove European powers, including Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, and Italy, to expand their territories into mainland Africa.

Students must pay special attention to how European powers competed with each other to claim African land, as well as the devastating effects colonialism had on African communities, both short and long term.
The new school year is off to a great start for the class of 2024!

Upcoming events:
  • Incentive Friday October 13th during 5th period lunch.
    - Students must have 90% or better attendance and their contract turned in by 9/30.
  • See Dean B on the 6th floor if you need another copy.
  • Students need to turn in their contract to participate in any event this year, up to and including the graduation ceremony. Please get these turned in ASAP.
  • Senior Google Classroom (Class of 2024). Please check your emails for an invitation. Staff use this space to communicate with seniors about events, surveys, and other items.
(Hint: Last year I posted the 6 flags survey, and kids who weren’t in the google classroom didn’t get tickets because they didn’t do the survey, so please join the google classroom to make sure you are up to date on all events this year, and so you also have a voice in the things you want to do)
  • Currently planning for Senior Photo Day (To be determined)
  • Currently planning for Graduation 2024 (To be determined)
  • Senior Fees: Students received a printout of their senior fees (debts) that they have on their student account. The fees include yearly student activity fees and other items. Students were given these printouts during the Senior Townhall on Friday September 8th, and were also given two days to pick them up from Ms. Busch during lunch. If students do not have their copy or did not pick it up, they can now go to the main office and ask for a printout. Please have conversations with the business office about how to plan for these. Students requesting a waiver for the 23-24 school year must speak with the business office to find out more info.
  • Senior English Students have been analyzing complex text and current issues through Supreme Court rulings and other readings. They are preparing for higher level texts and analysis by locating information and making inferences based on fact.
  • Senior Seminar Make sure students have access to their social security numbers for college applications and the FAFSA. If a student does not have a SSN, please let their teacher or a counselor know. Students need access to last year's tax returns in order to complete the FAFSA or the Illinois Alternative Application. The FAFSA opens in December, but students will set up their passwords in the next several weeks.
