Photo Day for Grades 9-11

Tuesday November 28th.

After photographs are taken, proofs will be mailed. No money will be taken at the time of the photographs.
Quarter 1 has ended and all Report Card Grades have been finalized. Quarter 2 has begun and all grades from Q1 will carry over, and be counted in the overall Quarter 2 grade, so please be sure to do well for the next 10 weeks. Quarter 2 grades will be on students’ permanent record, so if you did not do well for Q1, you have the opportunity to try hard these next few months in an effort to pass, successfully.

This week students will take a reading analysis and writing assessment that comes from the District. This assessment is called the Reach Performance Task. Students will demonstrate their ability to read, analyze, and respond to a text (a Historical Speech). Students will work hard the rest of the school year, and in the Spring, they will get the chance to demonstrate their ability to be successful on this assessment again (but with a different speech, same skills assessed).

Lastly, Students will be taking the Standardized Assessment called the P.S.A.T. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2023. Students will test until 11am, and all afternoon classes will resume.
Parent report card day will be Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023 from 12pm - 6pm. Please get the chance for families and staff to meet, and make plans for students’ success for Quarter 2.
Friday, Oct. 27, 2023 is a Student Non-Attendance day due to Teachers’ Professional Development.

Recently, our Junior Culinary Students went on a work-based learning field trip to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. This trip was made possible through the generous sponsorship of HMSHosts, a valued partner of the Clemente Culinary Arts program via the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's ProStart Program.

HMSHosts, a prominent player in the foodservice industry, manages the foodserivce restaurants and shops at O'Hare International Airport. During our visit, our students had the unique privilege of exploring this dynamic world of culinary arts and hospitality.

The day began with an informative tour of two distinct airport terminals, revealing the behind-the-scenes work responsible for creating dining experiences for travelers. Within the airport terminals students witnessed foodservice professionals in action, diligently preparing food for many visitors.

During the tour students were treated to Starbucks, where they enjoyed complimentary drinks from our tour guide, the Assitant Director of Operations for HMSHosts. Then students savored crispy wood stove pizzas and delicious fresh sushi maki rolls for lunch with a short Q&A session with management.

This field trip left a mark on our Junior Culinary Students, inspiring them to pursue jobs in the world of foodservice. We extend our gratitude to HMSHosts for their generosity and for providing this invaluable experience to our students.
