Recently, our Junior Culinary Students went on a work-based learning field trip to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. This trip was made possible through the generous sponsorship of HMSHosts, a valued partner of the Clemente Culinary Arts program via the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation's ProStart Program.

HMSHosts, a prominent player in the foodservice industry, manages the foodserivce restaurants and shops at O'Hare International Airport. During our visit, our students had the unique privilege of exploring this dynamic world of culinary arts and hospitality.

The day began with an informative tour of two distinct airport terminals, revealing the behind-the-scenes work responsible for creating dining experiences for travelers. Within the airport terminals students witnessed foodservice professionals in action, diligently preparing food for many visitors.

During the tour students were treated to Starbucks, where they enjoyed complimentary drinks from our tour guide, the Assitant Director of Operations for HMSHosts. Then students savored crispy wood stove pizzas and delicious fresh sushi maki rolls for lunch with a short Q&A session with management.

This field trip left a mark on our Junior Culinary Students, inspiring them to pursue jobs in the world of foodservice. We extend our gratitude to HMSHosts for their generosity and for providing this invaluable experience to our students.
