In English II we are continuing to read Bodega Dreams, a story about Chino, a man trying to provide for his family who gets caught up in Willie Bodega's dream to change the Spanish Harlem neighborhood of New York City. Students are building their communication and collaboration skills as they discuss what makes a relationship toxic and how do you determine what is "right". We will continue to read this book until the end of the semester when students write an analysis for their summative essay.

Over the past couple of weeks, juniors in physics have been mastering their understanding of the laws of motion and applying them in real-world scenarios and problem solving. Students were able to apply their understanding to find reason and understanding in unfamiliar situations as well as learn a couple of tricks and skills along the way. Students are now switching gears towards building their own multi-step machines for their next solving challenge. We will be sure to share some of their creations with you!
Senior Town Hall Quarter 2 We will be having a Senior Town Hall meeting to address graduation requirements, credit requirement, FAFSA, college applications, attendance, and Semester 1 Awards. Look out for the date, it will be posted soon on the Senior Google Classroom! We will post the slides from the town hall for parents to view if you are connected to your students on Google Classroom and they have accepted the Invite to the Senior Google Classroom.

Senior Debts and Fees Please contact the main office if you have not received a Senior Debt/Fees printout. We handed these out to students in the first town hall, back on August 29th, 2023. We also posted information to seniors about this on September 21, 2023. We will print them out a third time at the December Town Hall Meeting. If your student does not bring home their debt/fee printout, please ask them for it or contact the main office to speak with Betsy Garcia. 773-534-4000. Senior Debts/Fees need to be cleared by May to receive their cap & gown for graduation during Senior Week, the last week of May, 2024.

Senior Semester 1 Final Grades & Tutoring Seniors who need tutoring can attend tutoring during lunch and must bring their laptop. A schedule is being sent out for specific subjects to help students, this is through Ms. Smith. Please ask seniors about their grades and check with counselors if they are on track to graduate. Semester 1 final grades are very important because this may determine if your senior is on track to graduate. If a parent needs access to Aspen to view student grades, please contact Lasalgado@cps.edu (Luis Salgado)

FAFSA The Federal Application For Student Aid is going to be open soon. Please make sure you have gone to https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch to apply for a Federal Student Aid I.D. This can take some time to get the actual info back from the Government, so please make sure this has been completed ASAP. If you have any questions, you can reach out to your student’s counselor. 773-534-4000.
