In English II we are continuing to read Bodega Dreams, a story about Chino, a man trying to provide for his family who gets caught up in Willie Bodega's dream to change the Spanish Harlem neighborhood of New York City. Students are building their communication and collaboration skills as they discuss what makes a relationship toxic and how do you determine what is "right". We will continue to read this book until the end of the semester when students write an analysis for their summative essay.

Over the past couple of weeks, juniors in physics have been mastering their understanding of the laws of motion and applying them in real-world scenarios and problem solving. Students were able to apply their understanding to find reason and understanding in unfamiliar situations as well as learn a couple of tricks and skills along the way. Students are now switching gears towards building their own multi-step machines for their next solving challenge. We will be sure to share some of their creations with you!

UPDATES ON PICTURE RETAKES - Actualizacion sobre retomas de fotografias

After Winter break we will schedule 1 Senior Photo Make-up Day. A survey was emailed to students and also posted on the Senior Google Classroom. Please make sure to fill this out if the student wants to take the waist-up graduation photos, which includes cap & gown. The date will be communicated once we see survey results and meet with the photographer to choose an available date.
Despues de las vacaciones de invierno programaremos 1 dia de maquillaje fotografico para personas mayores. Se envio una encuesta por correo electronico a los estudiantes y tambien se publico en Senior Google Classroom. Asegurese de completar esto si el estudiante desea tomar las fotografias de graduacion de cintura para arriba, que incluyen toga y birrete. La fecha se comunicara una vez que veamos los resultados de la encuesta y nos reunamos con el fotografo para elegir una fecha disponible.

After Winter break, we will be starting the book “The Handmaids Tale” and we encourage students to order/purchase their own book. This is a suggestion. Having their own copy of the book will make the reading easier than using class copies.

Seniors in TOK are finishing up college applications and working hard on Extended Essays, a 3000-word research paper required to qualify for DP. Student topics range from the Civil War to hip hop history!
