Clemente Family Update 3/21/2024

This year marks a significant milestone in the journey of Roberto Clemente Community Academy, our 50th anniversary. As we reflect on half a century of educational excellence, community involvement, and personal development, we pay homage to our namesake, Roberto Clemente, whose legacy of compassion, integrity, and dedication inspires our mission and values.

Roberto Clemente was not just a legendary baseball player; he was a humanitarian and a beacon of hope and resilience for many. His commitment to helping others and advocating for equality and justice resonates with the core values we instill in our students. At Roberto Clemente Community Academy, we strive to embody Clemente's spirit by nurturing a culture of empathy, service, and excellence in all our endeavors.

Our school's success over the past 50 years has been profoundly influenced by the vibrant community and dedicated partners that surround us. We believe in the power of collaboration and the strength that comes from unity. Local businesses, organizations, and families have been instrumental in providing the support and resources necessary to create enriching learning experiences for our students. These partnerships reflect our shared commitment to uplifting every student and ensuring they have the opportunities to achieve their fullest potential.

The heart of Roberto Clemente Community Academy lies in our hardworking and dedicated staff. Teachers, administrators, and support staff pour their passion and expertise into creating a nurturing and challenging environment for our students. Their unwavering dedication is evident in the personalized attention and encouragement they provide to each student, fostering a love for learning and a desire to excel.

Our students, with their diverse talents and aspirations, are the essence of our school. They bring life, energy, and creativity into our classrooms and the community. Celebrating their achievements, whether academic, artistic, or athletic, fills us with pride and optimism for the future they will help shape.

As we celebrate this 50th anniversary, we look back with gratitude for the journey thus far and forward with excitement to the future we will build together. Our commitment to embodying the spirit of Roberto Clemente, nurturing strong community ties, and fostering the growth of our dedicated staff and talented students remains unwavering.

We invite our community, partners, alumni, and friends to join us in celebrating this momentous occasion. Together, we will continue to make Roberto Clemente Community Academy a place where students not only achieve academic excellence but also grow as compassionate and dedicated individuals, ready to make a positive impact in the world.

Here's to 50 years of excellence, and to many more to come!

Thank you

RCCA
Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s),

The college admissions process has never been more competitive, so it is crucial for students to prepare a strong admissions campaign. This includes getting the highest possible scores on standardized tests like the SAT. Research studies show that students who spend at least 20 hours using a proven test prep program will see a rise in standardized test scores.

To help RCCA students prepare for the SAT, we have partnered with Academic Approach to present “Good Morning SAT where students will work on honing their test prep skills for success on the SAT which will be April 9th-10th 2024 . The program will start Saturday, February 10th 2024 and run every Saturday until April 6th, 2024. We will begin our instruction @ 9AM-12PM. Lunch will be provided.

This program is open to 10th and 11th graders. We are looking for a commitment from those who sign up. This is your opportunity to improve your chances of obtaining scholarships and selective college admittance. There will be a celebration for those that attend all sessions of the program.

Students can sign up here using the link https://forms.gle/grDszU4uQUk1SgXE7

In order to have a successful test prep day, please make sure your student(s):
- Get a good night's sleep
- Eat a healthy breakfast
- Do not stress! Meditate, take deep breaths, listen to music, or exercise to relax.
- Please arrive on time, doors will open at 8AM

Educationally Yours,
Devon Morales, Sr.
Principal

For those who do not have a Social Security Number (SSN), please rest assured that you can still proceed with your FAFSA application. Here are the steps you need to follow to have your identity verified and your StudentAid.gov account created:

Step 1 - Visit StudentAid.gov: Start by selecting "Create Account" and complete the process, which includes answering 1-4 knowledge-based verification questions provided by TransUnion®.

Step 2 - Confirmation Page: After completing the account creation, you’ll see a confirmation page showing the results of your identity verification. If the TransUnion® verification fails, the Federal Student Aid (FSA) will automatically assign you a case number.

Step 3 - Verification Email: FSA will send you a verification email in your preferred language (English or Spanish), containing your case number. The email will also guide you on how to submit copies of unexpired, acceptable documentation to verify your identity.
