Applications Now Open for Honorary Student Board Member for the 2023-24 School Year

The Chicago Board of Education has provided two (2) English and two (2) Spanish posters, via GSR, that highlight the details for the SY 2023-24 Honorary Student Board Member application process. Please place these posters in areas of your school building where current sophomore and junior students frequent and in a centralized location that has high student and parent traffic and visibility, such as the Main Office, Lunch Room, Counseling Office, or Attendance Office.

Additionally, each poster has a QR code that can be scanned. Once scanned, this QR code will take individuals directly to the SY 2023-24 HSBM application.

HSBM Application Details
Each spring, rising juniors and seniors at Chicago Public Schools have the opportunity to apply to become an Honorary Student Board Member for the following school year. Applicants are considered based on past leadership experience and essays. The individual chosen for the role will gain:

What makes your favorite musical artist an innovator? Well, the 10th grade students were given the task to research their favorite artist and create a presentation about their artist’s innovative skills. After weeks of research, learning new musical vocabulary, and listening to different styles of music, the students have completed their summative assessments! They did a wonderful job presenting in front of their peers and showed much confidence! Way to go 10th Graders!
A sunset, a shower hose, a violin and McDonalds. What do these 4 things have in common? At first glance it may seem that they are totally unrelated, but a closer look reveals that they actually do have something in common. That something is…Math! 11th grade students are working on a project to help them see this for themselves. The Quadratics in Real Life project invites students to identify key mathematical characteristics of Quadratic functions and then search for real-life versions of these functions. The aim of this project is to help students see that math is all around them, they just have to open their eyes! Check out some sample project below:
This year, 7 Clemente Juniors are traveling to either Costa Rica, Ecuador, or Dominican Republic through Global Glimpse. Clemente hosted a Pre-Trip Family session for several high schools with attending students in the area. Senior Lydia Sanchez (standing in the photo) shared about her experience traveling to the Dominican Republic last summer. Students are getting excited, thinking about their packing lists, and waiting on passports to arrive - paid for by GG!
