Need to Talk? Let us know!
It’s ok to not be ok right now. Whether you are feeling anxious, depressed, sad, worried, or mad, or going through peer issues or experiencing grief, we are here to help. The counselors and social workers want to support you through this difficult time.

If you want to talk to an adult in the school, please complete this form and we will reach out! Student Support Form

Senior Parents- Prepare for the FAFSA!
The first step in completing your financial aid documentation is to gather all of our information to complete FAFSA. In order to complete the FAFSA, you need:
  • The Parents and student’s Social Security Number, if they have one
  • Parents and student’s tax return from 2019, if you filed taxes
  • Parents and student’s W2 from 2019, if you had a job
  • Estimate of the amount of money you have in your bank account
The FAFSA opens on October 1st, 2020 at midnight.

Parents will also need to create an FSA ID in order to electronically sign the FAFSA. You can create an FSA ID at https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm.

You need the following information to create your FSA ID:
  • Social Security Number
  • Email address
  • Personal address and phone number
Do you have concerns about your schedule?
The scheduler has created pods that can seamlessly transition into in-person instruction. Because of the pod structure, very few schedule changes will be granted. On September 14th, the schedule change request form will go live. If you would like to change your schedule, you may complete this form. However, be advised that this is a request, and not all requests will be approved. The scheduler will do her best to accommodate your requests while keeping everyone safe.

If you think there is an error on your schedule- such as 2 of the same classes, a class you have passed before, or the wrong grade level course (PE or JROTC requests are NOT errors)- you may complete the Schedule Issue Form.

Need your Transcript for your Permit?
The Secretary of State will only accept printed copies of your transcript. If you have a printer, and need a copy of your transcript, please email your counselor. If you need one printed, please contact the main office at (773)534-4000 or email Ms. Garcia at bgarcia@cps.edu.

Need to Complete Credit Recovery?
If you have failed a class in the past, look out for an email from your counselor! Credit recovery programs have not been finalized, but counselors will notify those who need credit recovery in the coming weeks.

Gates Scholarship Info Sessions-
Are you a Senior with a 3.3 GPA or above? Are you interested in getting a full tuition scholarship that covers all of your educational expenses for the rest of your life? If you said yes to both, you should apply for the Gates Scholarship! Mr. Foreman will be running Gates info sessions from 2 pm- 3 pm, on Friday, 9/11 and Monday, 9/14. Please stop into his office hours for more info!

Team 9
Freshmen

Congratulations on completing your first week of Remote Learning! Make sure you utilise your Remote Learning Pad document that you completed in the Freshman Seminar course. Take a deep breath and remember you're doing great! Also let a teacher know how much you appreciated their class this week. Encouragement goes a long way as your teachers are trying to figure this out with you. Also thank you for being patient with us. We look forward to getting to know you more this school year and teach you.

If you are struggling with online learning, feel free to reach out to Mr. Huerta (ahuerta36@cps.edu), one of your classroom teachers, or any other staff member!

Wildcats!

Sophomore year is incredibly important and signifies your halfway mark through your high school experience.

Some quick suggestions for sophomores students:
  • Make sure you remember your CPS email and password.
  • Access your schedule on Aspen.
    • If you cannot access Aspen, click on “Forgot Password” and follow the steps!
  • Check out your classes on Google Classroom
  • Make sure you have appropriate technology
  • Join the Sophomore Grade Level Google Classroom! The invitation was sent to your CPS email. This classroom will be a space for sophomore grade level announcements, information and tips to help you be successful, and Personal Project.
If you have any questions before next week or in the future, please feel free to reach out to me, Ms. Coffey, your grade level lead, via email at ccoffey2@cps.edu. She will answer your question or direct you to the right person.

Team 11
Hey juniors,

Congratulations on your first virtual week down! We’ve been so impressed with you all showing up every day and being flexible and creative in your learning. We know that this is new for everyone but you are all taking it in strike, like Clemente kids often do.

Some important reminders as we begin the school year:
  • Please join the Junior Grade Level Google Classroom. There will be key updates and information shared in that Classroom so you will miss out if you do not join. The link to join is here.
  • If you have not created your remote learning schedule document, that will be a crucial tool to making sure you stay organized, in touch with your teachers and have all your links in one spot. The document, which is also in your Junior Grade Level Classroom, is also linked here! The link will ask you to make a copy of the document so you can edit it and reflect your personal schedule.
    • Confused on how to create your remote learning schedule document? Check out the instruction video for a walk-through!
Still looking for ways to make remote learning work? Here are some suggestions that the junior team has put together as we learn with the students!
  • If you can, set up a specific space to work! This might look like a desk in your bedroom or a spot at the kitchen table. It will help you get in the work mode that you would have in the classroom.
  • Earphones to hear your class will be super helpful, especially if you have siblings, pets or family in the house with you.
  • Think about how you learn best in the classroom! If your teacher gives you an option between a Meet with some chatting versus a quiet Meet room, pick the one that will help you succeed!
  • Ask for help when needed! If you need to hear directions again or need help with online tools, ask your teacher in the chat or on the mic.
  • Think about the best way for you to engage in live classes--mic on, camera on? Using the chat to contribute? Remote learning offers some flexibility to meet you halfway!
  • Perhaps more importantly, use the asynchronous time to meet with teachers, get extra help or finish any work that you did not complete! This time is a great chance to start owning your work and schedule, like you will in a job or college.

IB News
Congrats and welcome back Wildcats! Although we have been an IB World School for several years, we have had a lot of changes in terms of how we approach curriculum at Clemente. We’d like to share some of IB’s fundamental tenants with you in the next few weeks.

You might be asking: What exactly is IB? What is the Learner Profile? What are the differences between the MYP, DP, and CP?

We aim to answer those questions for you in the next few weeks through a series of short videos you can watch on your own!

Questions about the IB Programmes? Feel free to contact us!
