Celebrations!
Welcome back! We all hope that you had a wonderful break and were able to re-energize. Quarter two & semester one are coming to a close and teacher grades have to be submitted by February 5th. Please check in with your teachers, log-in to Aspen, turn in make-up work, check in with yourself, to make sure you are where you want to be for your report card AND your GPA! You all can get those 3.0 GPAs!! Don’t wait until the last minute!

Attendance Corner
There is no attendance data for last week as we just returned from winter break. While there are no updates regarding performance, but there are some updates regarding incentives and strategies. Currently, the freshman attendance team is considering options for incentives. In the past we’ve ran incentives like: Wildcat bucks, cereal party, movies/gym access on Friday. As we’re considering incentive options, I believe it is incredibly important to solicit and receive parental and community input!!! Please submit ideas you’d like for us to consider. You can email me directly at jholmes27@cps.edu
Happy new year everyone!!!

What is happening in the classroom?
My name is Angelique James, and I am enrolled in English I with teachers Ms. Redman and Ms. Ziemniak. I’ve had so much fun in class this year. We just finished the book entitled, American Street, which I loved! The book is about a young girl who was living with her mom at her aunt’s house. The story focuses on big decisions she had to face throughout the book. I don’t want to spoil the book in case anybody is interested in reading it, but I loved how I could relate to many of the decisions the young girl had to make. Being in Ms. Redman and Ms. Ziemniak’s class is great because they understand us. When we needed more time to complete assignments, they are always willing to work with us. They are both very patient and are always willing to help us out. But what I love the most about English class is the class discussions, they really make us think, and help us arrive at our own conclusions.

Hello Sophomore Parents and Guardians,
We are nearly halfway through this crazy year and want to know how we can better support YOU in remote learning and in supporting your Clemente Wildcat(s). Please fill out this Google Form by 1/13 to give us an idea of how we can support you and your student in the second semester.
We see education as a partnership between parents, guardians, teachers, staff, community members, and beyond. We know if it takes a village to raise a child and are honored to be a part of your child's growth.

Thank you,
Sophomore teachers and staff

Gracias,
Profesores y personal de segundo año

Welcome back, juniors! Your teachers have missed you over break and were thrilled to see your faces (or avatars) this Monday. With winter break behind us, the end of the semester is coming up quickly. We shared this prior to break but in case you need some help reaching out to teachers and communicating what kind of supports you need, feel free to use the template provided below in an email.

Subject: Improving my grade

Hi Mr./Ms. _____________________ , (add your teacher’s name).

Before the semester ends, I wanted to reach out about my grade, which is currently _____% (insert your grade here) and see if there was anything I can do to improve it. I looked in Aspen and saw that I am missing ________________________ (fill this part in with whatever assignments you are missing!). Can I make this assignment up or is it better to focus on a different assignment?

Please let me know what I can do. I appreciate it!

Thanks,
_______________ (your name)

Feel free to edit this as you need to but this is one way to communicate with your teachers if you need some help reaching out and asking for support.

Additionally, if you want to figure out assignments you are missing and how you can prioritize work time, this video reviews how to check missing assignments in Google Classroom! Use this as a resource to plan your free time and make sure your grade is a strong representation of your skills!

Finally, thank you to everyone who filled out the SAT tutoring survey. More info and plans coming soon to support your success on the SAT!
