Celebrations!

The countdown until the end of the semester has begun. The last day of classes in this first semester is February 4th! This is a reminder that in high school only you will see your semester grade populate on your GPA. Let’s end semester one strong!

Check your Aspen, email your teachers, & turn in any missing assignments!

What is happening in the classroom?
English I - "Due to all of the recent events *(gestures to everything going on around us in the world)* we have decided to focus on time travel! What would happen if we went back in time and we are learning lessons about the Butterfly Effect and just why we should focus on the present through the deep dive into the reading of, "A Sound of Thunder."

Spanish I - we have been continuing with our focus on writing skills! Students have been practicing conjugating -ar/-er/-ir verbs, and next week we will jump to writing complete sentences. Students will also be given several opportunities to show their ability to do this, and replace prior assessments before the end of the semester!

Biology - Bio-Students are working on summative presentations. They are researching an invasive species they've selected with the intent on becoming an expert on their particular species! After researching, students will assemble a powerpoint presentation which they will present to the class next week.

Civics - Students are focusing on gun laws in America, as well as 10 countries around the world. Students will be comparing America’s gun laws to gun laws around the world. They will be focusing on the crime rates of each country and how they correlate with their country’s gun laws.

Hey juniors,

This week was the beginning of our after school SAT tutoring! Thank you to those of you who showed up and learned more about what is expected on the SAT, as well as what SAT tutoring will look like moving forward. If you were unable to make it and want to learn more, check out the presentation created by Mr. Foremand, one of the junior counselors.

Additionally, if you want to attend SAT tutoring in the coming weeks, our first official session will be on February 3 at 3:30. Make sure you are signed up on the Junior GL Google Classroom using the Join code on the flyer below. We will get together on the Junior GL Classroom Meet link.

Finally, please make sure you are checking your email for information about the PSAT on Tuesday. If you opted in to test that day, you should have received an entry time, along with directions on safety measures to keep students and staff safe.
