2015 Sophomore Half Cap
On Thursday, June 18 Clemente’s sophomore class celebrated a milestone: being halfway to graduation. This accomplishment is celebrated at the end of sophomore year and known as Half Cap. It is a time to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that our students have put forth in order to be considered on track to graduate. This year we are celebrating a 94% sophomore on-track rate! Students were also acknowledged for other achievements such as attendance (90% and above), perfect attendance, Gold Honor Roll (Straight A’s), Silver Honor Roll (all A’s, 1 B), Bronze Honor Roll (all A’s and B’s), and most improved in all content areas. Our sophomores also recognized peers that have displayed IB Learner Profile traits by nominating students and voting for those who displayed the traits throughout quarter 4.
Usually 10th grade teachers run the show and pass out awards; however, this year’s Half Cap was taken over by our spectacular students! Students Antoine Harris and Anthony Cancel MC’ed the ceremony, while Ashley Andino and Estefania Santiago prepared the slide show, organized awards, and passed out the coveted Half Cap t-shirts. Because this ceremony is very symbolic to our sophomores, students also created awards of their own! Some of the awards given were Class Clown (Richard LaBon), Best Bun (Kiara Hernandez), Peanut Butter and Jelly (Delilah Herrera and Janyce Vazquez), Cutest Couple (Antoine Harris and Jocelyn Ramirez), and Most Studious (Barbara Jimenez-Soriano).
