In Culinary Class this week, the focus was on food from Italy. Students were assigned a region from Italy and had to research the culture, food, music, and people. When they were done, they found a recipe that reflected the people of their assigned region. They were broken up into eight groups with four people in each group. Together they cooked up a culinary masterpiece.
Some students were assigned a region of Italy called Tuscany, known for grapes that produce world class wines. Tuscany is also known for berries. Some students even found a pie recipe that showcased Tuscany’s famous berries.
Other students were assigned the region Sicily, which is known for their gelato and fresh goat cheese. In the Culinary Arts program at Clemente, they believe in exposing students to different genres of foods so that students have experience that could potentially open doors for them professionally in years to come.
