There are two different types of students; there is the student who wants to leave home for college and there is the student who does not want to leave home for college. The student who wants to leave home for college tends to leave because their intention is to be as far away from their parents as possible and/or leave their past life behind. They want to create a new life and write their life story a different way. They want to live and experience a different type of environment, and this is totally fine.
The students who want to stay home for college are the students who have adapted to their environment and/or are too frightened to leave home. Maybe it is because of their mom. Perhaps she does not want to let them go. Teens need to understand that it is hard for parents to let go, but this is a part of teens becoming adults. As a young adults, it is time to sit down and discuss the future. Explain to your parents that it is time to let go because now it is time to write our own stories.
Cost for college is important to everyone. The goal is to make sure that teens can get into a college that is affordable and there are millions of opportunities out there for students to make this possible. Scholarships help many students, but students must be proactive on applying.
Class size is another important factor when applying to school. One might want to go to a larger university or go to a small, quaint liberal arts school. For many of Clemente’s students, the advantages of attending a small school outweigh the larger university because students will receive and benefit from individualized attention and support services.
College can be intimidating, but there are numerous reasons why it is important to receive a college education. In today’s society, it is hard to find a good paying job when someone does not possess a college degree. A college education will prepare students not only their future careers, but also their adult learning. This allows for new opportunities in life.
