Class of 2015 Graduates
On Monday, June 8th, the class of 2015 graduated at Moody Bible Institute. This significant event opened with junior Jasha Jackson’s beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner followed byClemente’s steel drum band led by Ms. Heather Busch. The keynote speaker for the ceremony was Dr. Jose Lopez, executive director and co-founder of the Puerto Rican Cultural Center and adjunct professor at Northeastern Illinois University, Columbia College, and the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Seniors of the class of 2015 then spoke to the audience in their own words, painting a picture of high school and all of the change and possibility that lies ahead. Matthew Young, who will be attending the University of Illinois at Chicago in the fall, recited a poem he had written in English class. Tarianna Smith, salutatorian and future Western Illinois University student spoke to fellow members of the class and all of the positive memories Clemente held for them. Finally, valedictorian and future Howard University student, Niambi Smith, told her fellow classmates to never stop fighting to become the people they were meant to be.
Seniors proudly walked the stage and said farewell to their time at Clemente by shaking the hand of Principal Marcey Sorensen. This graduation ceremony was truly a memorable event highlighting all of the amazing things the class of 2015 had accomplished throughout their time at Clemente.
