Clemente Gets Three Renovated Science Labs
We’re proud to announce the Grand Opening of 3 fully renovated science labs. Over the last few months, our outdated rooms were gutted and rehabbed to support our trial implementation of the IB Sciences curriculum, giving us 2 new biology labs and 1 new chemistry lab. All three rooms feature student collaborative lab tables, new plumbing and gas fixtures, and modernized safety equipment. The chemistry lab also boasts a state-of-the-art chemical fume hood. The labs were completed this summer and are now operational, hosting classes on a daily basis.
As an IB Candidate School, we have already started our trial implementation of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) curriculum with current freshmen, and will be adding sophomores next year. MYP Science courses focus on developing inquiry skills, with students designing and safely conducting their own lab investigations, then analyzing the data they generate. MYP Science courses also develop students’ capacity for critical analysis of the environmental, social, and ethical impacts of science as it is applied throughout the world. We are excited to embark on this journey with our junior scientists!
