On Monday March 28th, the Clemente Wildcats girls’ Varsity soccer team started off the 2016 spring season with a match against Division Street rivals, Holy Trinity Tigers. The Wildcats started off the match with a strong defensive display by both Freshmen Maria Lozano and Isabel Velazquez. Both girls were able to display their great skills and aggression serving as co-center backs for the Wildcats. Goalkeeper, Jessica Flores, made a remarkable save right before the half, denying Holy Trinity their third goal of the match. The score at half resulted in a 0-2 lead in favor of Holy Trinity. During the second half, the Wildcats showed great determination and put up a fight. The Wildcats never gave up and continued battling throughout the rest of the match. The Holy Trinity Tigers were able to score two, second half goals resulting in a 4-0 defeat for the Clemente Wildcats. There were a lot of key points and observations that the Wildcats will address this week in practice in order to be prepared for their first, Conference game of the season against the Crane Cougars.
