Clemente’s varsity football team won the 2013 Homecoming game on Thursday, defeating Kelvyn Park 16-7. This victory concludes the Wildcat season with a 4-3 division record in the Intercity-1 Conference.
Tailback Christian Rivera led the offense with 12 carries for 115 yards. Rivera also scored on a 67-yard TD run that gave the Wildcats an 8-7 lead early in the 3rd quarter.
Jordan Canet’s 18 yard gain, on a broken punt, put Kelvyn Park deep in their own territory with 1:03 left in the 3rd quarter.
The Wildcat defense also dominated, shutting Kelvyn Park’s offense down to 26 yards total in the second half. Joey Ortiz had 5 tackles, Noel Acevedo made 3 tackles, and Georgie Sosa led the defense with 8 solo tackles.
Jacob Ortega’s 25-yard TD interception finalized the game.
