Homecoming Win Ends Clemente Football Season

Clemente’s varsity football team won the 2013 Homecoming game on Thursday, defeating Kelvyn Park 16-7. This victory concludes the Wildcat season with a 4-3 division record in the Intercity-1 Conference.

Tailback Christian Rivera led the offense with 12 carries for 115 yards. Rivera also scored on a 67-yard TD run that gave the Wildcats an 8-7 lead early in the 3rd quarter.

Jordan Canet’s 18 yard gain, on a broken punt, put Kelvyn Park deep in their own territory with 1:03 left in the 3rd quarter.

The Wildcat defense also dominated, shutting Kelvyn Park’s offense down to 26 yards total in the second half. Joey Ortiz had 5 tackles, Noel Acevedo made 3 tackles, and Georgie Sosa led the defense with 8 solo tackles.

Jacob Ortega’s 25-yard TD interception finalized the game.

Everyone played hard and ended the season on a positive, strong note! Thank you to all the fans who cheered the team to their Homecoming victory, despite the chilly temperatures. Way to show your Wildcat pride!
