Clemente freshmen are responding positively to the use of SMART Boards as an instructional tool in math class. Recently, this technology as been used to supplement class instruction on graphing on a Cartesian plane, demonstrating and manipulating 3-dimensional object shapes, adding text to diagrams, and utilizing online resources such as Khan Academy. Students with diverse learning styles are engaging in the instructional process at a higher level than with traditional methods alone.
Faculty members will soon be receiving additional SMART board professional development to further hone their skills. They will continue to develop methods for student engagement, higher-order questioning and use of the active-response systems for formative assessment in class.
