Chicago City Council Recognizes JROTC Cadets

Mayor Emanuel and the City Council of Chicago recognized 42 JROTC Cadets at the City Council meeting on May 28, 2014. Clemente’s own Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Ashley Roman was among those recognized. The Cadets were recognized for being Commanders of their JROTC unit, receiving an appointment to a service academy, or for receiving a 4-year college ROTC scholarship.

Mayor Emanuel stood proudly as a resolution was read in support of JROTC being a vital program in high schools across the country to train high school students in leadership and character education. Over twenty aldermen also made statements of support of the resolution and recognized Cadets from their wards. It was a great event for the Clemente JROTC program as well as for the Chicago JROTC program as a whole.

Ashley Roman served as the Wildcat Battalion Commander this year and did an excellent job leading Clemente’s 174 JROTC Cadets!

Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Niambi Smith will serve a the Wildcat Battalion Commander for the 2014-2015 school year.
