RCCA says PRESENTE at HOSA Convention
HOSA is a national student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. Students that take part in Allied Health Science with Mr. Murillo were invited to Decatur, Illinois on October 31st to participate in their first Leadership Conference. It was an early wake up for our RCCA group; the WIFI ENABLED LIMO BUS was ready to go at 5AM! Students from all over the state represented their schools and got a chance to meet their soon-to-be rivals for the upcoming competitions. Many events took place during the convention, including networking activities, planning for competitions, and even a 5-star lunch!

Laser Focused During Team Building
Students participated in a wide array of leadership-building activities with other students in Allied Health Class from the entire state. HOSA promotes a high-caliber education in anything medicine-related to ensure that our students get career-focused from an early start in high school. Many of these students have a set education plan, and some are already deep in thought as to what medical school they will be attending after their college education. RCCA students are also learning about diverse scholarship opportunities for the privileged HOSA Members – an elite group of which they are now part!

Making Connections!
Students get to learn about the upcoming competition-based events and meet their soon-to-be rivals! There is a lot at stake, including an all-expenses paid trip to the HOSA National Competition which will take place in (drumroll, please!) Florida! Although, we made strong connections and great friends at this convention, we will show our inner WILDCATS and crush the competition on our way to Nationals!

A looooooong Trip (almost 4 hours)
After a long day of concentrated learning, RCCA students needed some kickback time! A four-hour trip turned into a six-hour snow/rain-filled adventure back into the city! Clemente students enjoyed the 5-star treatment with great transportation and a sing-a-long included – musical performance led by Ms. Carla Guilamo!
