Aloha, Juniors
The 2014-2015 school year came to an end with a festive celebration for the junior class. Our 11th grade students planned and executed a phenomenal Hawaiian-themed awards ceremony on Friday, June 12 to commemorate their accomplishments throughout the year. The ceremony was hosted by MCs Luis Echabarria and Jennifer Ramirez, with music by Jorge Cruz and Carlos Hernandez. Junior students were recognized for having attendance of 95% or higher throughout the year, for embodying IB Learner Profile characteristics, and for growth and excellence in each of the subject areas. Sarah Grace Gleisner attended the ceremony to present Jaileen Crespo with her 2015 Institute of International Education Passport Student award. Kyle Rodriguez and Natalie Vazquez were recognized for receiving the Future Leaders of Chicago (floChicago) award. This summer they will be living on campus at The University of Chicago where they will meet with Chicago leaders and further develop their own leadership skills. In addition, Michael Glenn and Manny Velasquez were recognized for their acceptance into Focus on Tomorrow, a six -paid apprenticeship program at the Illinois Center for Broadcasting. The ceremony ended with a bop-off between several junior students, including Christian Ramos, Ivan Vazquez, Jeffrey Grays, and Fernando Palomino. All in all, it was a vibrant close to a successful school year. We look forward to welcoming these hard-working students back in the fall as our new senior class.
