Clemente Receives Creative Schools Certification
Clemente has just received Creative Schools Certification, with recognition for having a Strong Arts Program based on the goals and priorities outlined in the CPS Arts Education Plan. Our rating is based on offering daily fine and performing arts instruction to all grade-levels, utilizing partnerships with organizations such as the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA), and our high Fine Arts Instructor:Student ratio. This certification acknowledges our school’s vision that arts are an important part of a balanced curriculum, and also makes us eligible for additional funding to support the arts programs. Principal Marcey Sorensen received an email from Barbara Byrd Bennett, CEO of Chicago Public Schools, and congratulatory letter from Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
“I congratulate you on this accomplishment, and sincerely appreciate your commitment to elevating the arts to a core subject, as outlined in Pillar 1 of our District’s 5-Year Action Plan. By providing your students with a comprehensive arts education, and by working to integrate the arts into other subjects such as math, reading and science, you are helping to ensure that students will develop the creativity, innovation, critical thinking and communication skills that will make them successful in the future.” – Barbara Byrd Bennet, CEO of Chicago Public Schools
