On December 5, 19 freshmen traveled to Lake Forest College (LFC) for a tour of the campus and a multicultural panel discussion. Students toured the academic building where classes are held, dormitories, and the sports center. The multicultural panel was composed of current Lake Forest seniors, all originally from Chicago, to give their unique perspectives and advice about college. Our freshmen also visited the cafeteria and were able to eat alongside the student body. Some of the current students at LFC dined with the students and talked informally about student life and college experiences. They also discussed wellness and independence, as our students noticed that it would be easy to put on a few pounds as a freshman at LFC if they weren’t careful. Students at LFC call it the “Forester Forty”, not the “Freshman Fifteen”!
Students also engaged in more serious conversations regarding majors, areas of study, and program requirements. Clemente freshmen were able to hear first-hand how their interests and passions translated into practical steps towards future careers. Several students were interested in the study abroad program and were able to speak directly with current LFC students who had studied abroad. Overall, the trip was a success and we look forward to several of our students making LFC their post-secondary option of choice.
