On September 30, 2016, our wildcat seniors attended the National Hispanic College Fair at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). There were over 66 colleges, universities and vocational centers/training schools at the fair from across the Midwest. This fair provided our wildcats with the opportunity to learn about colleges and universities that have varied majors, minors and sports programs. Our seniors had approximately 50 minutes to meet the admissions counselors and explore the collection of colleges/universities that were in attendance.
The goal of the Clemente Post-Secondary Team was to ensure that our wildcats met with at least four different schools, had a chance to make a great first impression with admissions counselors and gather information about their future college/university. Some of the schools that our wildcats were excited about were Northern Illinois University, University of Michigan, Columbia College, Southern Illinois University, University of Minnesota-Duluth, Roosevelt University, and Northeastern Illinois University.
Our wildcats were excited about college before, but now have a new perspective on college and know that it is possible for all of them. Every wildcat that attended the fair came back to Clemente super excited about attending the fair and cannot wait to start applying to the colleges and universities that they saw. Roberto Clemente Community Academy Class of 2017 is COLLEGE BOUND.
