Under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Marcey Sorensen and Mr. Jamie Crosen, Roberto Clemente Community Academy is proud to announce a 2+ rating based on Chicago Public Schools’ School Quality Rating Policy. For over 40 years, Clemente has a reputation of being a school that does not promote academic success based on several CPS factors such as attendance, test scores, college enrollment, and student gains. We have changed that reputation by making the needed changes that have resulted in the measurable progress in areas that are measured by CPS to determine a school’s rating.
With community support, Clemente has maintained its neighborhood school status throughout the years having gone through various principals, educational initiatives, as well as the concentrated growth of neighboring charter schools. In the past five years, there has been an increase in attendance, graduation, freshman-on-track, graduation, and college acceptance rates resulting in our rating of a 2+. Clemente’s teachers and staff have been an important part of the school’s progress as well as the continued support from our parents and elected officials.
Through our vivid academic history we have preserved our educational culture by thinking critically, interacting responsibly, and participating actively within our local and global community as seen in our International Baccalaureate World School status. As an IB World School, we offer all students participation in the IB curriculum during all four years of their CPS high school experience.
As we embark the brink of greatness, we have more to improve upon in terms of academic press and success.
Our namesake, Roberto Clemente, reminds us, “Why does everyone talk about the past? All that counts is tomorrow’s game.”
Be a part of our tomorrow. Be a part of our legacy.
We are Clemente.
