Sophomore Trip to Carthage College

Tuesday March 8th was college visit day for our Sophomores at Clemente. One of the many schools that we visited was Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The first thing we noticed when we arrived at the campus was how wonderful the environment of the school was. The entire school is located on the site of gorgeous lake, and college students were out and about on campus. It really gave our kids a glimpse of what college life looks like.
Before we toured the campus, our students were introduced to the school through a presentation set up by Carthage and their student employees. Our students asked questions and were given answers about the courses that Carthage has to offer and the types of athletic activities available on campus. Our students were also given a plethora of information about the school’s class sizes, study abroad programs, and a variety of scholarship opportunities the school has to offer.
After the presentation, our sophomores were given tours of the schools by actual college students. It was particularly special for the students to have a tour guide that could give them a first-hand perspective of what life is like for a student at Carthage. The guides took our students to see almost the entire campus. Our students visited the student center, the library, the gymnasium, the football field, various class-specific buildings, and even inside of some dorm rooms!
Once the tour was over we had time to eat lunch and just relax on campus. Some of our students used that time to go and hang out by the lake, while others took the opportunity to play basketball with some of the college students. This time was one of the most enjoyable parts of the day, because the students were able to feel like they were a part of the college and imagine what it would be like to be an actual student on their campus.
We had such an amazing experience that many of our students who attended the trip immediately decided that they wanted to attend Carthage. One of these excited Sophomores, Daquan Salley, said that he wanted to attend Carthage because of the student diversity, the various activities the school has to offer, and the beautiful scenery of the lake that surrounded the campus.
Overall, the trip to Carthage was an unforgettable experience that has gotten our Sophomores even more excited for their own college journeys!
