University Spotlight: Illinois College

Illinois College is a private liberal arts college in Jacksonville, IL. The 80-acre campus is centrally located within Jacksonville. Due to its higher elevation than the rest of the town, the campus is often called “The Hilltop.” Students may live in one of the eight residential halls on campus. The college also has apartment housing for upper classmen.
Illinois College’s men’s athletic teams are the Blueboys (in reference to Union soldiers’ uniforms during the American Civil War) and the women’s athletic teams are known as the Lady Blues. The college offers 20 varsity sports for men and women, including football, soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, and track and field.
There are over 80 clubs and organizations on campus, including an Archery Club, Model UN, and Rotary Club. Special interest clubs include the History of Tomorrow club, Investment Club, OASIS (Outdoor Adventure Club), Radio Club, and Quidditch Club. Illinois College also has three on-campus publications: Forte, Hilltop, and Rambler.
